The city of Chandler, Arizona holds candidate elections in even-numbered years. Each election year, three City Council seats are up for grabs. The mayor's office is elected every four years, and the term of office for both mayor and councilors is limited to two consecutive terms. Special elections may be called when necessary and are held on one of the four dates of electoral consolidation. The city manager is one of four positions appointed by the City Council.
The city manager and deputy city managers are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the city and for carrying out the policies adopted by the City Council. The City of Chandler also grants permits to locate existing public services and for construction or maintenance work on public rights of way (RoW) and public utility easements (PUE) through section 46.2 of Part VII of the Chandler Municipal Code. In order to make it easier for candidates to collect signatures of nomination petitions, the city of Chandler has implemented the Arizona Secretary of State's E-QUAL system. This allows candidates to collect signatures online. Chandler is a great place to live, work, and play.
